    FAQs

    I currently participate in my regional garnet return program. Will this continue? Or the GMA Garnet™ Sustainability Awards will replace this program?
    In short no.  The regional garnet return program that is currently running continues as per the region's requirements. The global program compliments the regional program and sit as a global recognition program based on the same global criteria.
    Customers send used garnet from waterjet cutting or abrasive blasting operations to one of our collection points, and we reprocess the material in one of our state-of-the-art processing plants. Before used garnet can be returned, we must ensure it is environmentally safe to transport and process.
    Customers need to work with your local GMA Sales Representative to determine the program is of benefit and finalize the processes before participation. 
    If you are part of GMA’s regional Garnet Return Program, you automatically qualify for the Global Program.

    GMA and KAEFER Partner on Sustainability in Saudi Arabia

    KAEFER Saudi Arabia has been a long-standing partner of GMA Garnet™, working together for more than a decade to drive sustainability in abrasive blasting. Through GMA’s Used Garnet Return Rewards Program, KAEFER successfully recycled 7,750 tonnes of used garnet across 2023 and 2024—delivering cost savings of approximately SAR 2.3 million (EUR 0.53 million).

    In recognition of these efforts, KAEFER received GMA’s Platinum Award in September 2024 for its leadership in sustainable blasting practices. Looking ahead, the collaboration is set to grow further, with strategic initiatives in 2025 focused on embedding even stronger environmentally responsible processes across operations.
