Montana Mine Upgrades: Securing the Future of Garnet Supply
GMA Garnet Group are pleased to announce the completion of essential upgrades to its Montana mine, marking an important milestone in ensuring the long-term sustainability of garnet supply for the company’s global operations. The upgrades will significantly improve both the efficiency and viability of the mine, positioning it to play a crucial role in supporting GMA’s operations in the years to come.
The upgrades have been designed to more than triple the efficiency of garnet recovery compared to previous levels. This increased efficiency not only enhances the economic viability of the mine but also expanded its production capacity. These improvements were seen as critical in meeting the growing demand for GMA Garnet™ across multiple industries worldwide.
"The Montana mine plays an important role in our operations. These upgrades extend its life and reflect our commitment to supporting our customers for the long term,” said GMA CEO Grant Cox.
Customers in regions across America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific can anticipate increased availability of garnet from the Montana mine, with enhanced production capacity expected to support GMA’s ability to supply garnet to key sectors, including aviation, energy, infrastructure, and defense.

This investment in the Montana mine strengthens our ability to deliver consistent, high-quality garnet to our customers globally, ensuring that we meet the growing needs of industries that rely on us."
From modest beginnings, the Montana mine has become a key part of GMA’s global supply chain, supporting industries that rely on the consistent availability of garnet. These upgrades ensure that the mine would continue to provide a reliable source of high-quality garnet for many years into the future.
