GMA Middle East was pleased to participate in the 8th Edition of the Asset Integrity & Corrosion Management Conference, held in Doha on 20–21 May 2025. The event convened leaders from Qatar’s Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, and Energy Industries to discuss operational safety, environmental responsibility, and sustainable fabrication and maintenance practices.
Our team engaged with corrosion engineers, pipeline specialists, asset integrity managers, and HSE professionals to explore how the right abrasive solutions can enhance surface preparation while contributing to safer work environments and more responsible waste management.
We were pleased to introduce GMA ToughBlast™ to the Qatar market—our specially engineered blend designed to reduce dust emissions, improve operator visibility, and support safer abrasive blasting.
Our presence was further strengthened by the support of our local partner, National Industrial Gas Plants, GMA’s authorised distributor in Qatar. Their on-the-ground support ensures that customers across the market benefit from reliable access to GMA garnet abrasives and its technical expertise.
A key highlight was the presentation by Ajay Thanki, Regional Business Development Manager at GMA Middle East, titled “Engineered Blend vs. Traditional Slag Abrasives.” Ajay shared how the right abrasive selection can support safer blasting operations and reduce environmental impact through lower dust levels, recyclability, and consistent product quality. He also highlighted the role of peak density—the concentration of uniform peaks per square inch—which significantly influences coating adhesion. GMA Garnet™ can deliver up to 400% higher peak density than traditional slag abrasives, improving adhesion and reducing the amount of coating required.
This is achieved through the garnet’s exceptional durability and tight particle size grading, which ensures more grains of the ideal size impact the surface consistently. As a result, GMA Garnet™ produces a uniform surface profile with minimal grain fracturing and fewer over- or undersized particles, enhancing coating performance and surface integrity.
“With the right blend of coarse and fine garnet particles, GMA ToughBlast helps create cleaner worksites, better visibility, and reduced waste. Unlike slag, our engineered abrasives are free from heavy metals - making them a more responsible choice.”
