GMA Shines at MEWAR Awards

In a nod to their steadfast dedication to sustainability, the GMA Middle East team secured the runner-up award for the category "Best Sustainability Initiative of the Year" at the prestigious Middle East Waste & Recycling Awards' 5th edition, in November.

Notably, GMA also secured a nomination in the "Best Waste Diversion Initiative of the Year" category, standing against major industry players in the region.

GMA's venture into the Middle East commenced in 1999 with the establishment of its pioneering Bulk Handling Plant in Jebel Ali Freezone, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Expanding swiftly, the company further solidified its presence by setting up a larger, advanced facility in Jubail, Saudi Arabia. To date, these strategic operations collectively enabled GMA to achieve a significant milestone - recycling over 400,000 tonnes of used garnet in the Middle East. This monumental effort effectively diverted a staggering 300,000 tonnes from reaching landfills, emphasizing GMA's unwavering commitment to sustainable practices in the region.

This recognition at the MEWAR Awards cements GMA’s position as a global industry leader in environmental sustainability and responsibility in the Middle East.

Upon receiving the accolade, GMA Middle East General Manager, Soni John, expressed his gratitude.

"This recognition reaffirms our commitment to creating a sustainable future. It's an honor to be acknowledged among such esteemed industry players. At GMA, we believe that our responsibility extends beyond business success- it's about leaving a positive impact on the planet we all share," he said.
