GMA receives Silver Award at the Gulf Sustainability Awards 2026
GMA has received Silver in the Best Environmental Sustainability – 26–50 Years in Business category at the Gulf Sustainability Awards 2026, recognizing its commitment to responsible operations and environmental improvement across the Middle East.
Established in 2016, the Gulf Sustainability Awards recognize organizations advancing sustainable development across the Middle East, with categories spanning environmental sustainability, social impact, and responsible business practices.
In addition to receiving Silver for Environmental Sustainability, GMA was shortlisted as a finalist in two other categories: Best Circular Economy – More than 25 Years in Business and Best Corporate Social Responsibility.
The recognition reflects GMA's ongoing investment in responsible resource management, waste reduction, and garnet recovery and reprocessing, supported by its wider commitment to improving environmental performance across its global operations.
“We are pleased to receive this recognition at the Gulf Sustainability Awards. Sustainability is central to how we operate, and this award reflects our people's commitment across GMA. It also reinforces the importance of continuing to look for practical ways to improve our environmental performance and support our customers and partners.”
Soni John
General Manager, GMA Middle East
Building on GMA's sustainability priorities
GMA's approach to sustainability spans its operations and value chain, from responsible mining and processing through to the recovery and reprocessing of used garnet.
Through investment in operational improvements, resource efficiency, and recycling programs, GMA continues to identify opportunities to reduce environmental impact while maintaining the quality and reliability of its products.
In the Middle East, this work is supported by collaboration with customers and industry partners to improve the management of used abrasives and keep recoverable garnet in circulation.
Recognizing the people behind the progress
The award also acknowledges the contribution of GMA employees across the Middle East, whose work supports the company's environmental and sustainability priorities.
From day-to-day operational decisions to working with customers, suppliers, and external partners, employees play an important role in identifying improvements and putting more responsible practices into action.
“Sustainability is not a separate part of our business. It is reflected in the decisions we make across our operations and in the way we work with our customers and external partners. This recognition is a credit to the people across GMA who continue to look for opportunities to improve our environmental performance and adopt more responsible practices.”
Farrel De Souza
People and Sustainability Manager, GMA Middle East
The Silver Award marks another milestone in GMA's sustainability efforts and reinforces the importance of continued investment, collaboration, and practical improvements across its operations.
GMA will continue building on this work, with a focus on responsible resource management, environmental performance, and creating long-term value for its customers and the communities in which it operates.
