For the second consecutive year, GMA Mid West was thrilled to be a part of the Shore Leave Festival, serving as a major sponsor for the opening night.
The team was proud to partner with Western Mulga for the evening – a 100% Aboriginal-owned and operated Mid-West company that assists GMA in preserving, protecting, and restoring country to its natural state. Since 2019, Western Mulga has undertaken GMA’s annual rehabilitation program, including seed collection, spreading seeds, weed management, and successfully planting over 20,000 tubestock at the Port Gregory site.
“From rehabilitating mined areas and leading the way in clean mineral processing to developing state-of-the-art garnet recovery and recycling technologies overseas, we take active steps to limit our impact on the environment. We are focused on continuing to develop a sustainable future for our business, customers, employees, and communities across the globe,” said Ross Avard, General Manager of GMA's Mid West Operations.
With the support of Western Mulga, guests at the festival were given the opportunity to plant, nurture, and grow their own seedlings as a reminder of the importance of rehabilitation and protecting our natural vegetation for future generations. This hands-on experience highlighted the crucial role of environmental stewardship and reinforced GMA’s commitment to sustainable practices.
