GMA and QUBE unite to Promote Safety at Northampton Community Event

GMA Mid-West was proud to join long-time logistics partner QUBE Logistics for a community safety day at Northampton District High School, bringing together student and teachers to learn more about staying safe around heavy vehicles and the mining industry.

The event gave visitors the opportunity to learn about GMA Garnet, which has been mined in nearby Port Gregory for more than 40 years, while also exploring one of QUBE's road trains and gaining a better understanding of how garnet is safely transported throughout the Mid-West.

"It was a lovely morning with visitors enjoying a GMA cookie, climbing into the driver's seat of the QUBE truck, and learning all about the local garnet mine that has been part of the Northampton community for over 40 years."
Liz Kelly
OHS Coordinator, GMA Mid-West

A key focus of the day was safety, with QUBE SHS Advisor Mel Hood, and Logistics Supervisor Mark Starling sharing practical tips on how to stay safe around heavy vehicles and encouraging children and families to always be aware of their surroundings.

"Safety starts with awareness. Events like this give us the opportunity to help children and families understand the size of heavy vehicles, where drivers' blind spots are, and why it's so important to keep a safe distance. If even one person takes that message away with them, we've made a real difference."
Mel Hood
SHS Advisor, QUBE

The event was a fantastic opportunity to reinforce the shared commitment to safety between GMA and QUBE while strengthening connections with the local community.

A big thank you to the QUBE Logistics team for organising this important community safety event and inviting GMA to be part of the day. We are proud to work alongside partners who share our commitment to keeping our people and communities safe.
