Four decades with one organisation is a rare achievement. For Wayne Dawson, it represents 40 years of embracing new challenges, continually learning and helping shape the quality and safety standards that support GMA's mining operations around the world.
From joining GMA as an 18-year-old plant operator to becoming Global Quality Assurance Manager – Global Mining Resources, Wayne's career has been defined by dedication, adaptability and a genuine commitment to people.
Midway through his career, Wayne took on the role of Safety Manager, opening the door to quality management and ISO certification. He went on to lead GMA Mid West through its first ISO certification, an achievement that paved the way for his current role as Global Quality Assurance Manager, where he helps uphold the high standards that underpin GMA's operations worldwide.
Reflecting on his career, Wayne believes that continuous learning has been one of the keys to his success.
"I've always believed that you never stop learning. I not only share my knowledge, I also gain valuable experience from others in return."

Wayne also credits the people around him for helping shape his career. For 25 years he worked alongside former General Manager Martin Taylor, whose mentorship extended beyond the workplace.
"Martin was a great mentor who always shared his knowledge. We built a relationship based on trust, and we even spent weekends surfing together at Flat Rocks. That experience taught me the importance of supporting others and leading by example."
Today, whether working with teams in Western Australia or visiting GMA operations around the world, Wayne is known for building relationships as much as systems. His collaborative approach, technical expertise and willingness to share his knowledge have earned the respect of colleagues across the business.
GMA CEO Stephan Kirsch said Wayne's 40 years of service reflects the values that have helped build GMA into the global business it is today.
"Reaching 40 years with GMA is an extraordinary achievement and one that very few people accomplish. Wayne's commitment, professionalism and willingness to continually learn have made a lasting contribution to our business. His leadership in quality and safety has strengthened our operations globally, but just as importantly, he has been a trusted mentor and colleague to so many people throughout his career. Wayne recently celebrated the milestone with colleagues from GMA Mid West, many of whom have worked alongside him throughout his journey.
