After graduating from high school, Dean worked at his family farm for two years, and later on as a farmhand for local farmers.
In 1981, Dean joined his father, Ray Clarke at the Port Gregory mine. The father and son team became the pioneer employees of GMA.
According to Dean, the original Port Gregory operations was processing 14 tonnes per hour. Over the years, he saw to several upgrades to increase production, including the construction of a new wet plant.
In 2015, Dean relocated to USA to support the development and management of the mining and processing plant operations at various locations around the country.
“It has been a privilege to see the growth of the company from a two man team at the Port Gregory mine site to what it is today,“ Dean said.
“I would like to acknowledge the team working alongside me during the past 35 years. The camaraderie of the team contributes to so many long-serving employees at GMA, “ Dean added.
As for Steve Criddle, he joined GMA as Mill Operator 15 years ago in September last year. Over the years, he has worked his way up to become a Shift Leading Hand at the dry plant in Geraldton, Australia.
In his role, he supervises and organises Plant Operators and Plant Hands to achieve safety, quality and production goals. In addition, he is one of the key staff to take responsibility in the event of an emergency. Steve also arranges urgent repairs by approved contractors and any product transfers when required.
“Through the years, I have seen a lot of big changes at GMA - from a small operation to a global company. Most of all, I enjoy working with a great crew. I am looking forward to what the future holds,” Steve said.
Comments from his workmates:
“Steve is a family man and a valuable member of the GMA team”.
“Stevo is always fun to work with and joy to have around. He knows his work well and has gone above and beyond in keeping the plant running smoothly, especially in the last four years of major production increases”.
